With the conclusion of the World T20 World Cup in India, as the West Indies were crowned Kings and Queens of World Cricket in both the Men’s and the Women’s tournament, months after their U19 squad were crowned the Champions in Bangladesh, the island nation pulling the triple threat. Beyond that historical achievement, there is something quiet admirable to take from this tournament.

The South African National Cricket Team touched ground at OR Tambo International Airport on March 29 2016 to happy wives, children and relatives. The players themselves were happy to be back at home for what will seem like a small break for most who have IPL contracts for the very lucrative Indian Premier League Tournament set to begin on April 9.

Days after FIFA, the worlds Football Governing Body released a 22 page long document, addressed to the US Government for financial amends that the organization has lost through the ill-dealings of former executives (to date 39 defendants) who defrauded the footballing body of $ 198 million FIFA claimed.

Monday, the 29th of February 2016, marked the 1st official day in office for the newly elected FIFA President, Gianni Infantino, replacing the scandal-wrecked Joseph “Sepp” Blatter. Infantino won the votes of member associations at the special congress held in Zurich on the second ballot of votes after failing to win the first round of voting by majority, as stipulated in the FIFA elections guidelines.

South African cricket physiotherapist Craig Govender joined Bonga and myself on our show #SundayNightSports on TransAfrica Radio, to speak about sports science/medicine centres that cater for the everyday sports loving person. A vision he has had for a long time but now it is coming to life with phase 1 of the two phase opening days happening on the 1st February and 30 days later phase 2 on the 1st of March, a significant day that marks the beginning of what seems like will be a long time of sports nurturing.
