The Nigerian entertainment industry is really taking over the world. Nigerian artists like Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Davido just to name a few are making hits that have transcended borders.
Nollywood has managed to be a big player in the African movie industry, and now we have Nigerian theatre productions gradually making their way to international stages.
‘Wakaa The Musical’ will become the first Nigerian musical to show at The Shaw theatre, in London’s Wes End from 21 to 25 July.
The cast members of the production are Bimbo Manuel, Patrick Diabua, Nengi Adoki, Dolapo Oni, Ozzy Agu, Jolomi Amuka, amongst others.
This world class musical is produced and directed by Bolanle Austen-Peters and looks at “trials, successes and experiences of young graduates with varied backgrounds, a wager between them after graduation has a twist when the realities of life and the folly of their choices hit them. Eventually they reunite, coming full circle.”
“This is coming in response to growing interests in productions of African origin across the globe, and various calls for us to take this production to the international community” says Bolanle.
There is a large Nigerian and Afro – Caribbean population in London, who are interested and yearning to see world class productions from Nigeria.” added Bolanle.
